چکیده

The transcriptional activator IFN regulatory factor 1 (IRF-1) and its antagonistic represser IRF-2 are regulators of the IFN system. IRF-1 also manifests tumor suppressive activity, and its inactivation could contribute to the development of human hematopoietic malignancies. Here, we report the identification of the lysyl oxidase gene as a target gene of IRF-1. An IRF response element was identified in the lysyl oxidase gene promoter. We also demonstrate that the transformed phenotype of ra.v-expressing embryonic fibroblasts with a null mutation in the IRF-1 alÃ-elecould be suppressed by the expression of the lysyl oxidase cDNA, implicating its potential role in tumor suppression. Thus, the regulation of the lysyl oxidase gene by IRF-1 could contribute to the multistep process of malig nant transformation.

The Role of Tumor Protein 53 Mutations in Common Human Cancers and Targeting the Murine Double Minute 2–P53 Interaction for Cancer Therapy

The gene TP53 (also known as protein 53 or tumor protein 53), encoding transcription factor P53, is mutated or deleted in half of human cancers, demonstrating the crucial role of P53 in tumor suppression. There are reports of nearly 250 independent germ line TP53 mutations in over 100 publications. The P53 protein has the structure of a transcription factor and, is made up of several domains. T...

Comparison of Mitochondrial-Related Transcriptional Levels of mitochondrial transcription factor A, Nuclear respiratory factor 1 and cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 Genes in Single Human Oocytes at Various Stages of the Oocyte Maturation

Background: The aim of the current study was to assess the mRNA levels of two mitochondria-related genes, including nuclear-encoded NRF1 (nuclear respiratory factor 1), mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM), and mitochondrial-encoded cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (MT-CO1) genes in various stages of the human oocyte maturation. Methods: Oocytes were obtained from nine infertile women wit...

Investigating FGF11 gene transcription level in cancer cells among colorectal cancer patients

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the fourth leading cause of cancer-caused death around the world. Reports of the unnecessary transcription of family genes of the fibroblast growth factor in several types of cancer indicate the role of these factors in tumorgenesis and progression of cancer. Therefore, the level of FGF11 transcription was evaluated in colorectal cancer tumor tissues relat...

P-71: Construction of Required DNA Plasmids for Validation of Predicted MicroR-NA Targets

Background: The micro-ribonucleic acids (miRNAs) are noncoding RNA molecules that are conserved developmentally and include usually 18-25 nucleotides. MiRNA regulates gene expression through mRNA degradation or inhibiting of its translation. These biomolecules contribute in cellular physiologic and pathologic processes and most of them may act as oncogenes or tumor inhibitors. Identification of...

In silico identification of miRNAs and their target genes and analysis of gene co-expression network in saffron (Crocus sativus L.) stigma

As an aromatic and colorful plant of substantive taste, saffron (Crocus sativus L.) owes such properties of matter to growing class of the secondary metabolites derived from the carotenoids, apocarotenoids. Regarding the critical role of microRNAs in secondary metabolic synthesis and the limited number of identified miRNAs in C. sativus, on the other hand, one may see the point how the characte...
